It rains more in Florida- At least, we get more inches of rainfall, anyways.. It probably rains more often in England, though.. but its a much lighter rain than the kind we require in our tropical paradise. We need the water to keep things beautiful!! The further north you get, the less water is required, because the less tropical it is.. (England is much further from the tropics regions than Florida is, obviously) Also, we get a lot of the tropical depressions, storms, and hurricanes that places like England never see, primarily due to their location on the planet.

Central Florida is also (FYI) the lightning capital of the world..

Hurricane season is between June 1 and Dec 31 every year, and you can expect storms just about constantly during this time of year. Its good that we are getting this much this year, because the aquifers have decreased so much in size that they have gone down 10 feet, causing lots and lots of sinkholes..

A sinkhole happens this way:

The underground aquifers support the ground that rests upon them, believe it or not. All that water together weighs a great deal and was an excellent support system for our homes and buildings in the past.
Now, we have used so much water, that the levels of those aquifers have literally gone ten feet down.. That is like a whole lot of mid-sized lakes, just drying up completely!! Without that water to support the ground, the ground just caves in. That is how sinkholes happen. =)
